Last week, I grabbed a cart at Aldi and noticed something small.
The last few carts already had quarters in them.
No note.
No name.
Just a quiet little gift waiting for whoever came next.
It made me smile.
Because it wasn’t about the quarter.
It was about someone, at some point, choosing to make a stranger’s day just a little easier.
And I found myself wondering what kind of person does that.
Someone in a hurry?
Someone who has just enough, but still gives?
Someone who remembers what it feels like to need a break?
Whoever it was, they didn’t stay to be noticed.
Not that I know of, anyway.
They just left kindness behind.
And I thought,
that’s the kind of person I want to be today.
Every day, really.
Not big, noticeable gestures.
Just small ones that say, “I thought of you,” even if we’ve never met.
A quarter in a cart.
A door held open.
A moment of patience.
Nothing that changes the world.
But maybe, for someone, it changes a moment.
And sometimes, that’s enough.
It certainly was for me that day.
