How Are You?

Really.
How are you?
When was the last time someone asked you that and actually waited for an answer?
Has anyone just checked in on you?
No agenda? No reason?
Has anyone ever texted, “Hey. I’m just thinking of you and wanted to say hello.”
More importantly, who have YOU checked in on?
It just takes a few seconds to send a simple text.
So, why don’t we do it more?
Because we’re all too busy?
Because we all have our own struggles and think it doesn’t matter?
But it does make a difference.
We all need to feel seen.
We all need to know someone remembers us.
We all need to be reminded that we matter.
And it really doesn’t take much to do that for someone.
So, here is a small challenge for this week.
Think of one person who would not expect to hear from you.
Send them an email or text.
Say something like, “I’m thinking of you and wanted you to know.”
And then try to think of someone else next week.
And try again the week after.
Keep it simple.
A short check-in is all it takes.
We can all do that. Right?
It WILL brighten someone’s day.
And who knows, there may be a check-in chain reaction.
Wouldn’t that be GRAND?!
“I give you a new commandment:
love one another.
Just as I have loved you,
so you should also love one another.” (John 13:34)
